It’s been a long time coming for the Sydney 2020 Olympics, but a new series of sports massage videos has already been released.
A new series called Percussion is on Netflix and it’s billed as the first-ever Olympic sport massage series.
“Percussion is an art form of massage that uses the body’s muscles to control the movement of the hands and body,” the title reads.
The video, entitled The Art of the Body, is about a young man named Daniel.
“He has had a couple of surgeries and he was suffering from a lot of pain,” a representative for the Australian Sports Foundation told ABC News.
“The Australian Sports and Medical Association (ASMA) have been very supportive of Daniel’s recovery.”
Daniel has had several surgeries over the past few years, including the recent operations on his hand, knee and ankle.
In the video, Daniel is shown with a massage, and the masseuse uses a rubber ball to massage his hands.
“I’ve been doing this for a long period of time,” Daniel says.
“My fingers are getting so numb and it hurts when I sit.”
“I have always been into the massage, but I just didn’t have the confidence,” Daniel adds.
“That’s when I started doing it for myself.”
In the past, Daniel has had other doctors perform the treatment for him.
“We’ve seen a lot, and it seems to work for a lot more people than we think,” the representative said.
“There’s not a lot out there, but this is the first time anyone has tried it on themselves.”
Daniel is one of several athletes who have used the art of the body in their Olympic preparation.
The videos have attracted a lot interest from fans around the world, with many claiming they’ve enjoyed the experience.
“It’s been really interesting to see a lot new and interesting videos come out about it,” a spokesperson for the ASMA told ABC.
“And it’s nice to see that the sport is a great therapeutic outlet, so we hope to see more like it.”
